Question by iceman1 (iceman1)
Can I move a freezer chest full of frozen meat?
I have a chest freezer full of meat that we are moving across state. How long do I have before the meat will start to thaw. The movers are coming on one day and delivering the next day - will my meat be okay?

In theory, your meat should be OK, but moving companies won't pack and transport perishable items, for obvious reasons like pests, vermin and spoilage.
Let's think of the worst-case scenario -- your goods get delayed, the frozen meat melts, spoils, and you get the picture.
It never hurts to ask the moving company about it, but I doubt you'll be able to do it. One solution: Empty the freezer, have the movers move it, and transport the meat separately in your personal car (packed with ice).
Good luck with your move,
