Question by abonnermom (abonnermom)
Do I get reimbursed if my moving delivery dates are not met?
Is there a standard discount per diem if the arrival time is not met?

Many of the major vanlines will reimburse you if they deliver outside of the delivery window that they agreed to when setting up your shipment.
However, you might not have this in any of your paperwork because it’s probably not there. Rather, it’s spelled out in the moving companies' “tariff,” which is basically a menu of charges that a moving company charges for its moves. If you want to see what it is, ask your moving company.
The moving companies call this reimbursement a ‘Delay Claim’ and it generally goes toward any additional costs you faced because of the delay in shipment, such as lodging or food expenses.
And for those of you are planning a move, be sure to carefully check the language for the delivery window – we hear from many people who are annoyed by the delay in shipment, only to be told later by the moving company that they were only given a window of when the goods will arrive – and sometimes these windows are very large.
Good luck with your move,
