Moving one piece of furniture?

I need an armoire picked up from a furniture store and moved to my manufactured home 7 miles away. How much would this cost?

Won't be cheap. Moving companies often charge minimum amounts for any type of move, because they have certain fixed costs that they need to cover. This minimum is often 3 hours.

However, can't hurt to call and ask. Also look for moving companies that specialize in small moves, they might be able to help (Mini-Moves, Apartment Movers, etc). You could try to hire movers over a service like Craigslist, but be careful: you don't know anything about the quality, and they often don't have insurance so if they get hurt in your property, you could be liable (some homeowners insurance coverage won't protect you).

Also, ask the furniture store about your options, they might be able to give you a good recommendation since they're constantly dealing with deliveries and such.

Finally, there's the beer and pizza approach -- rent a truck and get some friends or relatives to help, and pay them with food/drink.
