Moving from Madison, WI to Austin, TX -- How to find a good moving company
I am moving from Madison, Wisconsin to Austin, Texas. Can someone recommend a reputable moving company?

Unfortunately, we can't provide recommendations of specific moving companies, but we can give you a general idea of what to look for.
1. Choose a moving company that has local representation. Working with Madison moving companies will make everything a lot easier -- most importantly, you'll actually be able to check out the mover's facilities to ensure they're a reputable company.
2. Have at least 3 in-home moving quotes. The movers need to see everything you must have moved. The biggest source of angst for people who are moving is to get an estimate over the phone, and then face a much larger moving tab because they actually end up having more stuff. Moving companies must see everything you need to have moved.
3. Don't go with a crazy-low bid. You might think you're getting a deal, but what happens is this: The moving company tells you a very low price just to land your business, but then lards on other costs. If you go with an estimate that's roughly the same as others, you can avoid this.
See this article for more tips on choosing a moving company.
Good luck with your move,
