Looking for a mover for small load from North Carolina to Dallas

I am looking for a reliable moving company to move a small load from N.C. to Dallas, TX. Do you have any suggestions? And is there any such thing as a good mover?

Generally speaking, you might have trouble finding a full-service moving companies interested in your move if it's under 1,000 pounds, and anything around this size will be expensive because you'll be paying a minimum weight. That said, you should still get quotes.

There are other options for moving small loads. There are firms like Mini-Moves that specialize in small moves, and it makes sense to at least get a quote from a large shipping company, just so you have an idea of costs. There's also a firm called U-Ship, which is an auction site where you post what you need moved and shipping companies 'bid' on your business. They're often looking to fill out a load, so they might have space on their truck for your stuff. Here's more information on making small moves.

As far as whether there are good moving companies -- there are bad moving companies, but the majority of good. However, you need to be vigilant in how you check them out because the moving industry is loosely regulated by the government.

A few tips:

Find movers in the Yellow Pages, get recommendations from friends, or search online.

Insist that at least three movers come to your home to see what you need moved. This is the only way you'll get accurate moving quotes.

If one of the companies has a quote that's far lower than the others, don't pick it. Rogue movers low-ball you to win your business, and then add other fees later.

When you have a company you favor, go online and check them out at the government's website.

Check the Better Business Bureau to see if there are any complaints.

Good luck with your move,
