Question by manya3sharma (Manya)
How much to pay for a short move?
We are just moving locally to a bigger house (less than 3 miles). We just need help moving our furniture and maybe some boxes. What is a reasonable price to pay for our move.

Because you're moving locally, you'll be paying for your move by the hour and by the number of people who help you move.
Unfortunately, a fair rate for that depends on where you live -- labor costs are higher in New York, for example, than the Midwest. So call three local companies and ask about their rates. You can also request moving companies online, by filling out the form to the right.
However, don't pick purely based on rates. Ask them about the workers they use -- full-time employees or contractors -- and make sure they're licensed and insured. Here's an article on how to pick a moving company.
Good luck with your move,
