Looking for moving help in SF Bay area

FINDING A MOVER
-> Other questions

Question by julie in bay area (julie meyer)

I need an honest moving co. in SF bay area. I have 2-10x20 storage units full of my stuff. I have been ripped off in the past by a mover with 2 guys I found from the phone book. I am planning on moving from 1 side of the bay to the other. Approximately 55 miles 1 way from my storage facility to the house I am planning to buy. Any recommendations on honest movers or hiring men to help me load my bed and dressers and tv if I rent my own truck? I don't wish to be ripped off and stolen from again. Thanks. Julie,

Although we don't really recommend specific moving companies, I can tell you that there would be very few licensed full service movers who would agree to do just labor work. If you choose to rent your own truck you could use the labor services, such as Labor Ready, or Moving Labor Services. Labor Ready specializes in providing the actual helpers for various tasks, while Moving Labor Services are brokers who work with many moving labor companies (they specialize in moving).

Regarding finding a mover through craigslist: although we like craigslist a lot and personally I use it often for all kinds of needs, finding moving help there is a bit risky, since it is not regulated (meaning anyone can post there, so you never know whom you get). I would suggest you to use our moving quote form to do some preliminary market research, and in any case always run an online research for each mover you consider hiring (see this thread to learn how).

Good luck with your move,
