Question by songbird130 (Bonnie Crouthamel)
I have an old, large, upright piano that is not worth restoring. I need to dispose of it. Do I actually need piano movers or can movers experienced in large items do as well, given that the piano is never to be used again. Also, where do old pianos go to die?

You would hire piano movers in case you are concerned with preserving it. In your case you could just hire regular movers, but make sure you warn them about the type of work they will be doing.
In general, moving jobs such as that might cost you over $300 (minimum job + disposal fees). Also, many movers would not want to do it, because they do not offer disposal services. It would be a good idea to consult your local piano store as to what other options you might have for old piano disposal.
Good luck with your move,
