White House Movers 2000, USDOT #954332

Safety Of Use Rating: F
(0.00%, STAY AWAY - see how we calculate SOUR)

From their website www.whitehousemovers2000.com:
  • This company is not an agent for any major van lines

  • Licensing information: NYDOT-T 35281, USDOT-954332, ICC-MC408383

  • Services offered: local, long distance, storage, commercial, international

  • Contact Information: toll free: 866-344-MOVE,
New York Main Office address: 151 Industrial Loop, Suite 105, Staten Island, NY 10309,
New Jersey Branch, 125 Newfield Ave., Edison, NJ 08837

  • Members of: not specified

  • They have some nice offers on their site worth checking out if you plan to hire this company: see offers.
From Safersys.org:

Safersys.org reveals the following information:
  • Licensing info: same as on their site

  • Only 1 truck (strange, for a company that has 2 locations. Possible explanation: they use NJ address to be locally licensed in New Jersey

  • Phones: (718) 317-8444

  • The information in the Safersys.org report indicates no problems with their license and insurance.

  • Inspections section shows statistics below the national average for the driver out-of-service rating, however it is way higher then average for the vehicle rating. In addition they where involved in one crash resulting in an injury.
From Better Business Bureau:

This company's BBB record is rather confusing, since it is listed under two names: White House Movers 2000 and White House Movers 2000 Inc. After careful analysis we established that both listings are in fact for the same company, so we will base our findings on the combined information from both listings:
  • Not members of the BBB

  • Original Business Start Date: 1/1/2000

  • Address - the second address is also in Staten Island and it is 1070 Rockland Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10314.

  • This company has an unsatisfactory record with the BBB

  • Number of complaints processed in the last 36 month: 11. Complaints issues: Credit or Billing Disputes (4), Delivery Issues (4), Contract Disputes (1), Repair Issues (1), and Selling Practices (1). 4 complaints where resolved, 5 responded to, but the customers were dissatisfied, and 2 were ignored.

From other sources:

  • New York State Movers & Warehousemens Association: not listed as a member

  • New Jersey Warehousemen and Movers Association(NJWMA): not listed as a member.
  • MovingScam.com: the company is mentioned in connection to 1 interstate move, very bad review. (See this thread here). Basically, they recommend to avoid using this company (although do not list it in their Black List).
  • RipoffReport.com: didn't find any article about this company.

  • New York City.com: found one review. Someone was unhappy with the outcome of the move. We believe that some of the things mentioned in the review could be omitted (like the weighting station in NJ instead on in NY). See the review here

Summary:

I believe you should stay away from this company. With only one truck, their public record indicates that practically every move they do result in customer dissatisfaction one way or another.

If you still decide for some reason to hire this company we advise you to take some protective steps. Follow the guidelines in our Moving Guide regarding closing deals with movers and understanding your estimate, and make sure you insist on having an on-site visual and getting a binding estimate (but that should be done regardless of who you choose for your move). Also, insure your valuable items on MovingInsurance.com.

Good luck with your move,
