Question by raedeo2 (Shanda Sullivan)

Car dolly vs car carrier

Which is better...a car dolly or a car carrier to use to tow a Honda Accord behind a 16 Ft moving van from MT to MS? Are there any major disadvantages to using the car dolly, which is about $150 cheaper?

Answer by julie (Julie Owens)

Shanda,

There are advantages and disadvantages of both. On one hand, having your car off the ground with a carrier will reduce the chance of damage to the car. At the same time carrier is heavier then dolly, adding that to the gas expense. Other then that both methods work fine.

Keep in mind that if your vehicle had any modifications towing it either way could cause damage (modifications could be lowered suspension, special exhaust systems etc).

Good luck with your move,
