From their website www.libertymoving.com:
I run a search for "Liberty Moving & Storage" and found the company snapshot (search by USDOT #077949 would show information about United Van lines, but we want to research Liberty, so the name search is the only way). Safersys.org reveals the following information:
Summary:
I would highly recommend to move with this company. Although they got some bad PR here and there, you should remember that moving company with a truck fleet of that size perform over 3500 moves a year, and according to our estimate only around 150 moves draw complaints from the customers, which is approximately 1 move in 25, or around 4%.
To stay on a safe side follow the guidelines in our Moving Guide regarding closing deals with movers and understanding your estimate, and make sure you insist on having an on-site visual and getting a binding estimate (but that should be done regardless of who you choose for your move), and insure your valuable items on MovingInsurance.com.

From their website www.libertymoving.com:
- This company is an agent for United Van Lines (a major van lines)
- Their website looks very professional at first glance, but apparently not too revealing - I could not find their address, phones (except for the toll free) and licensing information (they list United Van lines licensing info in their Company Fact Sheet). They do list information about their executives - all members of Federico family, with extensive experience in the field of moving and well educated, according to this resume.
- Licensing information: Not specified
- Established 1939
- Services offered: local, long distance, storage, commercial, international
- Packing services: offered. They claim to provide any boxes, packing, crating, or storage needed for your move, however I would recommend calling them before ordering the boxes and compare their prices to SmartPack Solutions.
- Contact Information: address not specified, toll free: 800-640-4487
- Members of: not specified
- Company affiliation history: joined Allied Van lines in 1975 and switched to United in 2001.
I run a search for "Liberty Moving & Storage" and found the company snapshot (search by USDOT #077949 would show information about United Van lines, but we want to research Liberty, so the name search is the only way). Safersys.org reveals the following information:
- Licensing info: USDOT #325439, MC #198104
- 21 truck
- Address: 17 Central Ave, Hauppauge, NY 11788-4733
- Phones: (631) 234-3000, (516) 234-3000
- The information in the Safersys.org report indicates no problems with their license and insurance.
- Inspections section shows statistics below the national average, which is good.
- Members of the BBB
- Original Business Start Date: 1/1/1938
- Additional phone numbers: (212) 223-6440, (718) 470-0411, (516) 466-8000
- Address - same as in Safersys.org
- This firm also does business at the following location: 37-50 Railroad Avenue, Long Island, NY 11101
- This company has a satisfactory record with the BBB
- Number of complaints processed in the last 36 month: 2 (Complaints issues: both - selling practices, resolved, but the customers remain dissatisfied)
- New York State Movers & Warehousemens Association: listed as a member, has valid NYS DOT license (for local moves).
- Long Island Moving & Storage Association (LIMSA): listed as a member.
- MovingScam.com: the company is mentioned in connection to several interstate moves, all received mediocre reviews. (See full report here). Basically, they recommend to be cautious about using this company (although do not list it in their Black List).
- RipoffReport.com: didn't find any article about this company.
- Epinions.com: found one review on the company, someone who was not very impressed by the way they handled his move and later his complaint. See the review here
- Yahoo Groups | Moving Advise: found another review. Someone who moved to Arkansas, claims the move was an "absolute disaster". See the review here
- Articles: I found one about Liberty Moving & Storage announcement of staffing changes - read here.
