Question by oopsnik (Nic)

Ship some stuff from St. Louis to Taiwan

I'm going to leave ST. Louis in 50 days. I want to send some of my stuff(books, clothes, shoes ) back to Taiwan. So far I have packed 4 boxes, each one is about 18x14x12. I might have 6 boxes eventually, roughly weight 110 lbs in total and about 9 cubic feet. Well, I did get some quote from few moving companies but seemed that it costs a lot more than I thought. Should I use other way to ship my stuff like express or small shipment? By the way, what company will have a better price? thank you

Nic,

It seem like you have a really small shipment. I am afraid that international movers might not be the right choice for you. As far as I know, international movers usually charge by container (20' or 40'), which is far from what you need or want, and those who offer you charge based on cubic feet or pounds might still not be competitive enough compared to international parcel services such as UPS, FedEx, DHL and others.

I would recommend you to inquire how much it would cost you to ship each box individually with each one of those companies and compare it to whatever quotes you got from the international movers. Keep in mind great advantages of using parcel services, such as advanced shipment tracking and better liability protection, etc.

Good luck with your move,
