FINANCIAL SIDE OF MOVING
-> How to save on a moveDec 08, 15:04
Question by officer193 (Bonni)
Moving across country
Am I better off having alike a pack-n-ship company bring me totes to pack in and leave them in the totes (paying monthly) in my new city for a while, or would it be cheaper to move it in the totes, then put it in a rental storage until, then move the property at a later date? I am moving from IN to TX but I will be staying with a friend for 4 to 6 months, and need to have my property in storage.

Bonni,
I would guess pricewise it would approximately be the same, assuming your U-Pack We-Drive company offers storing options.
Let's analyze your case better:
- With first option your items move only twice - into the unit, and then out of the unit at your new place. I would recommend you to get some prices from self moving companies (don't forget to mention in the comments that you will need to store the items for few months).
- With the second option your items move 6 times - into and out of the self moving unit, into and out of the storage, and into and out of the truck when you get them to your new home. Even if this option is cheaper, I would still recommend you to consider the first one (it will be much healthier for your furniture and other items, as well as your back).
Again, to get a better answer to your question I would recommend you to check the prices with self moving and storage companies, and then do the math.
Good luck with your move,
