Since Our SOUR formula is not fit to rate international movers I will only present the results of my findings without rating this company:
  1. El-Al Shipping seems to be connected to GlobEx International (www.globexshipping.com - the websites are almost identical). I could not locate any of those companies in the FMCSA SaferSys.org site.

  2. I found two addresses associated with this company: 3855 Northern Drive Fair Lawn NJ, 07410 (Vanlines.com) and 200 Knuth Road, Suite 214 ? Boynton Beach, FL 33436 (their website).

  3. Their New Jersey BBB record shows 18 complaints (a pretty high number), and the Florida BBB record shows another 3 complaints since March 2007 (just over 4 month, a high number).

  4. Other consumer sites also list several complaints (for example see this complaint on RipoffReport.com: http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/0/218/RipOff0218952.htm, including a responce from the ex-employee that claims the company is a scammer), and numerous discussion on MovingScam.com. There is a lot of confusion regarding this company in the MovingScam.com forums.

I would suggest you to do some more shopping around, since this company has many red flags. You can get some more quotes from international movers, and collect at least 3 visual estimates before you decide on a mover. You can also try the agents of major van lines, since most of them are licensed to do international moves.

In any case, I would recommend for everyone moving abroad to read this article from Federal Maritime Commission's website: Complaints or Inquiries Involving Individual Shipments of Household Goods or Private Automobiles.

Good luck with your move,
