Advance notice for interstate move
I assume you question is about reserving a move with a moving company.
It is always recommended to reserve a spot as soon as you decide on what date you will be moving (and that should be decided as soon as possible).
Reserving a spot with a mover is usually free, so there is nothing that should be stopping you from doing that right away. If the representative tells you that a deposit is required to place a reservation you should tell that representative that you will not place any deposits prior to the pickup date when the movers actually appeared to move you.
If you still want to wait then I believe a week or just few days notice is fine - unless your move is in the end of the month, in which case the movers might be fully booked. In that case I would recommend reserving at least two weeks before the move.
Good luck with your move,
