International shipping from USA to Hong Kong

I need to ship my entire video game collection (takes up half of my living room) from Boston, MA to Hong Kong. What is the cheapest way of doing that? Also, what is the best way to get packing materials? Should I buy them or find a shipper that provides them?

Diana,

If your collection is as big as you describe it then it would probably be cheap enough to use regular international moving service.

When you move internationally you usually reserve a container. There are two standard sizes for containers: 20 ft (for 2-3 bedroom apartments/houses) and 40 ft (for 4-5 bedroom). Since you do not need the whole container you should look for deals that will allow you to share a container with other shipments going to the same place. For that you should get quotes from several international movers and ask if they can provide you with that option. Keep in mind that you might need to wait until they manage to find a shipment you can share the container with.

Regarding packing materials: I would not recommend buying packing supplies and boxes from the hauling company, because these are usually 2-3 times more expensive then the ones you can get online. We recommend buying moving and packing supplies from SmartPack Solutions LLC (See this thread for more information about this company). They offer good prices, high quality supplies and fast (and free) delivery anywhere in USA.

Good luck with your move,
