FINDING A MOVER

Question by Esther (Esther)

Is there any good reason to choose large van lines over independent movers?

I see you recommend some national moving companies, like Allied or North American Van Lines. However, on websites like epinions, I've been reading many really negative experiences, leading me to believe that these large companies don't care enough about each customer's satisfaction... Is there any good reason to choose large companies over small, local ones (supposing they are equipped for long distance moves)?

First, its important to understand that we only recommend specific companies or specific agents on major van lines, not the van lines themselves.

Different van lines have different ratings, and even within one van line you would find agents that are better then the other. There are good independent movers as well, however if a mover is a scammer or really bad performer this mover will not be able to maintain the rating required by any van line to be an agent. Therefore you will usually find really bad mover among independent movers, and not agents of van lines, because each van line have their own rating system and many requirements from the movers that they choose as their agents.

Regarding our rating system - we only rate movers according to their past performance, with some consideration to their time in business and relation to major van lines. The idea behind our system is that if a given mover has relatively low level of dissatisfaction from other clients, your chance to be dissatisfied is also low, and vice versa.

Good luck with your move,
