Mover stiffed by broker - what can we do now?

I am a mover and want to know what I can do if I did a load for a broker and they took a full payment for the load and told me that they were going to deposit money in my bank account and never paid me.The load weighed 17,000 lbs and the amount due to my company is $5200.00. The company won't answer any calls from me and I dont know what to do.

The Broker is USA Vanline from Charlotte, SC

Well,

Using brokers is as dangerous for the consumers as it is for the movers who take the jobs. Unless you have an established personal relationship with a broker, and that broker also has good reputation in the market, I would not recommend any decent mover to cooperate with them.

In your case I would first of all recommend you to complete the move and deliver the shipment to the consumer. Remember, the consumer paid the price of the move, and unless you deliver the shipment your reputation will go down very fast. This is between you and the broker, keep the consumer out of it.

Second, run a complete investigation on those people, check who the owner is, get all addresses and phone numbers that you can, and call those numbers. You want to know if they are a real company or just a hit-and-run scam operation. If they are hit-and-run - then I believe your money cannot be recovered. Basically, you were scammed.

If they do exist and plan to make more money scamming people around then you should look for a legal assistance, and also consult a collection agency. You need to have all your paperwork in place, otherwise your chances of recovering this money are close to none.

Good luck with your move,

THANKS FOR THE ADVICE, MUCH APPRECIATION, DIDNT THINK ABOUT THE COLLECTION AGENCY, THEY WILL TAKE THEM TO COURT FOR ME.

THE LOAD IS ALREADY DELIVERED AND THE COMPANY IS LEGIT.
