Question by marc (marc bernicker)
N.J. authority
We are a small, new start-up moving company domiciled in N.Y. state. (Incorporated in N.Y.state). we operate two 18ft box trucks with GVW's of 14,500 each truck. We have our USDOT number(application awaiting approval), MC number(application awaiting approval), NYS Authority to transport household goods (pending), NYS Authority to transport Non Household goods(Approved, still in our 30 day wait period), BOC-3(all other states), as well as all required cargo and liability insurances.MY QUESTION IS: what authorities must we apply for to do an INTRASTATE moving job in N.J.? What authorities do we need to do moving jobs from NY to NJ? (once all applications are approved and we wait out the required 30 day waiting period. We are getting confused. we get a lot of wrong or misleading info. All i know is that we have spent a small fortune and have yet to generate any income.
Congratulations with your new business. I believe all you need is an ACTIVE USDOT #. A move from NY to NJ is already a long distance move because it is going from one state to another state. You might want to check these sites for better answers:
