Moving a 36 inch TV
Michelle,
In this thread I explained basically how to pack TV's from 19' to 32': http://www.movinganswers.org/thread/45/How-to-pack-a-very-big-TV-set.html.
TV sets of a bigger size are more problematic, and in general I would not recommend moving them by yourself. It would be wiser to hire professional movers, who specialize in crating and moving large bulky items, and who have the right equipment and packing materials for that task. I also know how hard it is to find those specialists, so here are some tips as to what needs to be done to pack and move extra-large TV sets:
Good luck with your move,

I also know how hard it is to find those specialists, so here are some tips as to what needs to be done to pack and move extra-large TV sets:
- Crating: TVs of that size need to be crated using thick cardboard boxes. You could use either TV boxes, wardrobe boxes, kitchen boxes or any other sturdy cartons. Those boxes will be cut with a box cutter and used to build a box around your TV (crating).
- Padding: the TV should first be wrapped in a moving blanket and bubble wrap should be applied to the screen to protect it.
- Lifting: Avoid lifting the crated TV. Its really not healthy.
- Moving the TV: To move the crated TV a moving dolly needs to be used. Simply put the TV on it and roll out of your apartment and the building. You also should only use a truck with lift gate and roll the dolly in. Don't leave the TV on the dolly though when inside the truck.
Good luck with your move,
