  • This summary was listed under Customer Experience: "Our file shows mail sent to this company was returned by the Post Office marked as either insufficient address, attempted not known, no such number/ street or not deliverable as addressed-unable to forward...... Based on BBB files, this company has an unsatisfactory record with the Bureau due to unanswered and unresolved complaints. The company has resolved most complaints presented by the Bureau, however, some complaints remain unresolved or unanswered."

This information was listed under Government Actions: "Thursday, August 5, 2004
The U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) today announced fines for a New Jersey household goods mover for violating federal motor carrier regulations.
A Supreme Movers, Inc. of Fair Lawn, NJ was assessed $32,950.
The federal agency cited the company for operating a charge card plan without providing a tariff, or list of charges, and for failing to properly weigh shipments, prepare orders for service or prepare itemized bills. The company also failed to provide Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move, a pamphlet required for consumers that summarizes of carriers' dispute settlement programs.
A Supreme Movers also was cited for not charging its applicable tariff rate, not following its loss and damage claims procedures, and not preparing non-binding estimates as required.
    "

  • Number of complaints processed in the last 36 months: 31.
Complaints issues: Contract Disputes (1), Refund or Exchange Issues (2), Delivery Issues (9), Billing or Collection Issues (5), Selling Practices (2), Repair (1), and Service Issues (11). 7 complaints where either ignored or otherwise not resolved.
    From other sources:

    Summary:

I would recommend staying away from this company. The number of BBB complaints is alarming and the fact that they have failed to answer a large number of them is even more alarming. It seems like more then half of their moves result in consumers' dissatisfaction this way or another.

The fact that they drawn the attention of the DOT authorities is a very bad sign. In fact, I failed to find any good reference to this company.

If you still decide for some reason to hire this company we advise you to take some protective steps. Follow the guidelines in our Moving Guide regarding closing deals with movers and understanding your estimate, and make sure you insist on having an on-site visual and getting a binding estimate (but that should be done regardless of who you choose for your move). Also, insure your valuable items on MovingInsurance.com.

    Good luck with your move,
