Packing Fragile Objects

How do you properly pack glass objects?

Jan 11, 14:39
Answer by julie (Julie Owens)

When packing glassware you want to make sure that it is protected and padded so that these items don't break or get damaged during the moving process. To secure your glass objects, we recommend that you use bubble wrap or stretch wrap, packing paper, packing tape, and sturdy cardboard boxes.

Now that you have all the materials that you will need, it's time to pack. Start by individually wrapping each piece of glass in bubble wrap or stretch wrap and then secure it with a piece of packing tape -- making sure that every area is covered. Repeat this until all of your glassware is safely packed. Next, place some bubble wrap on the bottom of your box and then line the bottom with the bubble wrapped glasses. Pack them together in a line and not facing upwards. Place a layer of packing paper over the glasses along with extra bubble wrap on the top. Seal the box and secure it with packing tape. Be certain to also your mark boxes "Fragile or "This side up."

You should also let your movers know which boxes are fragile - even if they are labeled - so that can place them securely on their moving truck.

Good luck with your move,
